I'm having a really annoying audio problem since the last Windows 11 update (version 23H2, build 22631.2861). My system keeps randomly switching the output device from my speakers (connected via 3.5mm jack on the motherboard) to my monitor's built-in speakers (through HDMI). Sometimes it even shows "No audio devices installed" for a few seconds before coming back.
On top of that, I get a constant crackling/popping noise when playing any sound – music, YouTube, games – especially when the system is under load. The crackling stops for a moment if I mute and unmute the volume, but it returns after a minute or so.
What I've tried so far:
My setup:
Mainboard: ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5800X3D
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3070
OS: Windows 11 Pro 23H2
Could this be a driver conflict between the onboard audio and HDMI audio? Or is it a known bug in the latest Windows update? Has anyone else experienced this random device switching and crackling?

What I've tried so far:
- Checked that the correct device is set as default in Settings → System → Sound
- Ran the Windows Audio troubleshooter (it found no issues)
- Disabled Enhancements on the speakers under device properties
- Changed the sample rate from 24 bit/48000 Hz to 16 bit/44100 Hz – no change
- Tried a different audio port on the back of the mainboard – still crackles
- Updated the Realtek driver via Windows Update and also tried the generic High Definition Audio driver – same issue
